Raquel Sanchez is a New York born Latina whose professional life has been defined by a passion for work that centers populations afflicted by unjust systems, health disparities efforts, and mentoring historically excluded individuals. For the past two decades, she has held positions of service that placed her at two top comprehensive cancer centers at the forefront of cancer research and care. After moving to Seattle in 2013 and spending several years as the leader of a collaborative global oncology program in Uganda, she was selected in the first cohort of the University of Washington, Doctor of Global Health Leadership and Practice program. Raquel is the Chair of the Board of Education Across Borders, an NGO based in Seattle that raises funds to build homes, latrines, and fund scholarships for communities from her familial roots in the Dominican Republic. She adores watching her 16 year old daughter on the musical theater stage, and her 24 year old thrive. Raquel and her husband Will make the most of the access to nature in the Pacific Northwest, through hikes to waterfalls and beautiful mountain views when they are not enjoying the Caribbean waters in his native Puerto Rico.
